Medlar Press
The Medlar Press is the UK’s leading angling publisher. Our fishing books include some of the great classics of angling literature as well many superb contemporary titles. Based in the beautiful countryside of north Shropshire, Medlar is an independent publisher, proud to support the British printing industry. All our books are designed and edited by us, and printed and bound in the UK using high quality sustainable paper and inks. Whether you are looking for fly, coarse, sea or game fishing books, books on trout, sea trout or salmon fishing, or even all-round angling, you should find titles of interest in our list.
At this year’s show (2020) we will have with us the new edition of ‘The History of Fly Fishing’ by Andrew Herd as well as his new book on the history of the Flyfishers’ Club in London (‘The Flyfishers’). Also available for the first time at the show will be Keith Harwood’s new book ’Sir Walter Scott on Angling’ which includes a fly-dressing section. Both authors will be attending the show – Andrew Herd on both days and Keith Harwood on Saturday. In addition to the books already mentioned, we’ll be taking a broad selection of other fly-fishing titles, both old and new, and you will be able to find out about and reserve copies of our forthcoming publications (including ‘Blacker IV – the 1855 Edition’, ‘The Story of the Salmon Fly’, ‘Fancy Flies’ and ‘The North Country Angler’).
