I am a Veterinary surgeon working in Co. Fermanagh in Northern Ireland but if I didn’t have to work I would spend all day fishing and tying flies.
I grew up fishing the River Lagan and we had an active competition scene that forced me to become innovative in my fishing and fly tying. I won the ITFFA national rivers championship and represented Ireland at age 20 then 2 years later I repeated that success as captain of the team. I have fished throughout Ireland and also travelled to Scotland Wales and New Zealand
The nature of my job meant that competition Trout fishing had to take a back seat and I became increasingly addicted to Salmon fishing the pull of the pull keeps me chasing them and i have a couple of hundred under my belt at this stage.
There is always a rod made up in the back of my work van and when its slack i have a few casts in whatever bit of water is available . this fishing is mostly for pike and my biggest fish to date is a 107cm fish that put up a hell of a fight in a very small drain!
