Martin Westbeek, born 1957, Amsterdam, marketing communications lecturer

Fishing has been my hobby since I was 12 or so, although I took a break to finish my education, find a job, get married, have two kids (ok, my wife did that)… I took up fishing again in the eighties, wondering why I ever took that break in the first place, and determined to make up for lost time.

My home water is the typical Dutch lowland “polder” Wilnis, but what I like best is fishing for trout, in streams or lakes, in fresh and saltwater. Tying has become just as much a passion for me as fishing itself, and over the years I’ve tied at shows and fairs in Holland, Germany, Denmark, Britain and the USA.
At this year’s BFF I’ll show some winged and hackled flies (focusing on winging and hackling techniques – regular, parachute and paraloop), and a streamer from the Thundercreek series – it’s high time for a Thundercreek revival.

See you at the fair!
