Passport to Wild Trout Heaven

The Wild Trout Trust (WTT) in partnership with the Association of Rivers Trusts (ART) has just launched a new web site to promote the growing number of fishing passport schemes being developed throughout England & Wales. The scheme has also been supported by the Environment Agency.

www.wildtroutfishing.co.uk has been set-up as a gateway for anglers wishing order passport tokens and source information on the following schemes:
. Wild in Eden
. Wye & Usk Passport
. Tyne Angling Passport
. Angling 2000 (West Country Rivers Trust)

As new schemes are developed they will be added to the website.

WTT Director Simon Johnson said, "I am delighted WTT is supporting this exciting initiative. The passport schemes are currently one of the most exciting developments in wild trout fishing. For just £5 to £10 anglers can experience the thrill of wild trout fishing in some of the most beautiful landscapes in England and Wales. However the most exciting aspect for me is that the money generated from ticket sales often goes straight back into the sustainable management of these precious resources".

At this year's British Fly Fair (1st-2nd November) new members joining WTT will receive a complimentary book of ten tokens worth £22.50. See www.bffi.co.uk for details. For further information contact WTT Director, Simon Johnson on 07881 920078 or director@wildtrout.org

This year Jens Pilgaard and Sebastian Letalier will demonstrate tying classic salmon flies, without the use of a vice and on hooks made by Jens. One not to be missed!

..... and from Chris Sandford, his latest book.

Looking back at the show in 2007, overall we were very satisfied with the outcome. As well as a record number through the doors many  traders experienced record takings for any UK Show. As always the invited fly tiers put on a magnificent display and they all commented on the high level of interest from the visiting public. The theatre presentations were well attended and the AAPGAI casting pool was a great improvement on earlier years.

Planning is already underway for BFFI 2008, the sixth annual show, and it just remains to give a massive thank you to all the individuals and organisations which put so much effort into bringing the show together.
