From North Wales is APGAI qualified at Fly Dressing and he is Vice President of the ‘Game Angling Instructors Association’. He has fished and tied flies for over 50 years.
On the competitive fly fishing scene, Gwilym, represented Wales on 17 occasions at International and World level. He became the first double champion angler in the history of the competitions winning the Lake International Champion title, the ‘Brown Bowl’ on Loch Harray in Orkney in 1983, and, becoming River’s International Champion winning the ‘ Moc Morgan’ trophy in 1998 on the River Tweed in Scotland. Gwilym was also honoured by Hardy’s back in 1983, now, Hardy and Greys Ltd, when they awarded him with a Certificate and Gold Badge, depiciting ‘Hardy Hall of Fame’ for his achievements at competitive angling during the course of that year, using Hardy fishing tackle.
Gwilym is actively engaged with a Guiding business and has written numerous articles for fishing magazines over the years In 2009 he published an autobiography ‘ The Angle of the Cast’.
