Fishing for Heroes was founded in 2009 by Tom Hill and Capt. Tony Spacey after a chance meeting at the 2008 Game Fair.

Tom has worked with people with behavioural problems and learning disabilities in the past. He now owns the Devon and UK Fly fishing school and is one of the country’s leading fly fishing instructors. He is a well known and much respected game angler in the South West.

Tony is a former soldier who has gone on to have a successful business career. He is a passionate game fisher and shot and he can be found touring the UK’s trout fisheries trying for as yet his illusive double figure trout and during the winter he can be found out with his dogs on the shooting estates of England.

There are a handful from the world of exceptional cane workers and I am not saying that my work is necessarily better than theirs.

What makes a Dumont Rod is different, first of all the artisan approach that guides me to make a resolute performance by combining object technology and tradition, and well-understood the exceptional quality of the cork which I dress my cane and I’ll get myself in Portugal.

At a time when the logic is to produce ever faster and cheaper and therefore more Souvant later, the fisherman was finally over with the link that is causing the cane he uses. I am convinced that there is a place for “object” made with care, love and passion.
