Dean Andrews, best known for his role as D.S. Ray Carling in BBC drama Life on Mars (and its follow up series Ashes to Ashes), describes himself as a fly fisher who acts to fund his fly fishing.

An interview with Trout Fisherman magazine (issue 379) sums up Dean’s philosophy with the headline “The BAFTAS didn’t half mess up my fishing”.

Together with friends John Tyzack, John Pearson and Dean Hodson, they make up the Fish On Productions team, with fly fishing their shared passion (some would argue “obsession”!)

Through the series of River Academy DVDs, Fish On Productions aims to take your fly fishing on rivers and streams to the next level with highly instructional and entertaining programmes.

Each DVD is aimed at improving a specific aspect of fly fishing, featuring on location fishing as well as in depth fly tying showing all the fly patterns used and how to tie them. In addition to all this, each DVD features a short section on tackle choice helping you get the most from each method.

Dean Andrews will be tying some of his favourite river flies used in the River Academy DVDs at the BFFI and the Fish On team will be exclusively launching their latest DVD, “Grayling Through The Year”. This DVD features various Grayling fishing techniques through autumn, winter, summer and spring, proving that Grayling can be caught throughout the year.
