Wendy is qualified S.T.A.N.I.C./ G.A.I.A. Instructor in fly dressing, and has been dressing
flies for over 25 years. Formed her own business in 1985, called Flies By Wendy, making
fishing flies for fishing, framed fly displays, and associated gifts, also selling fly tying
materials and tackle.
Teaching fly dressing at night school for over 20 years, priding herself on being able to
turn her hand to tie almost any fly pattern, trout or salmon. She demonstrates this skilful
art at craft and game fairs all over the U.K. to help keep old traditions alive.
Currently she has written two books on fly dressing, aimed at the easier way to dress
flies, showing simplified techniques developed to help the problem areas of fly dressing,
many which have been developed at night school, to help in some cases less able bodied
people and beginners to the art.
Wendy's framed collections of trout and salmon flies are some of the best quality currently
available in the U.K. and have been featured on three TV programmes about her talent,
the programmes being, network TV called 'Maker's' with Jan Learning, a spot on Midlands
Today with the BBC, and 'Down to Earth' for Welsh TV.
Wendy looks forward to seeing you at the Fly Fair, and hopes she will be able to solve
any of your fly dressing problems.
