I learned to tie simple flies and how to roll cast during the late 1950’s.
Many years later these fundamental skills combined with imagination and curiosity helped him to capture seven international fly tying championships.
He’s demonstrated at many fly-fishing conventions from the slopes of Rockies, to the rolling hills of Great Britain. From a fiord in Denmark to a 12th century villa in central Italy; not to mention - on a dusty parking lot in Roscoe, New York too.
Besides tying, Ted has developed a unique style for framing angling art. Known for its stylish, straight forward yet elegant manner, his work has been commissioned by various museums and organizations dedicated to the fly-fishing arts, including the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum (New York) and the British Fly Fair. Still, he considers fly tying/framing a hobby.
Ted will be tying classic salmon featherwings and traditional trout wet flies, however he’ll also tie simple fishing flies for fresh and salt water…all you have to do is ask.
