I am a Freshwater Ecologist from Gloucestershire. My first introduction to Fly tying was at the age of 11. It started with a small Fly tying vice and a few materials as a Christmas Present. Not long afterwards I was introduced to a fishing friend of my Fathers, Mr. Pip Brown and after a few lessons I had managed to grasp the basics. If it wasn't for Mr.Brown and his enthusiasm and patience in those early days I would not be sat hear now typing about the passion I now have for this hobby.
This will be my second year at the British Fly Fair International and it's a great privilege to tie at this fantastic event. Realistic Fly tying is my main interest and passion. I like to study nature's real invertebrates and from this I really love the creative and design process you must go through to create new realistic patterns.
During the last year I have been spending more time at the vice than fishing!. This has led to some new realistic patterns, along with the continued tweeking and improving of the patterns that I have developed. I hope to show you some of these patterns and ideas at the show. The show is a great opportunity for me to meet people with the same enthusiasm and passion for fly-tying that I have.
I look forward to seeing you at the show.
