Peter Dunne

Peter has been tying flies for the last 25 years or so and has been especially interested in the classics since 1995. It was while living part-time in Québec, Canada that he became hooked on competitive flytying and in the following 7 years succeeded in winning no less than 7 Gold medals in the World Flytying Championships along with many Silver and Bronze medals too. This in turn led him to be elected to the FQSA Fly Dressers Hall of Fame and was presented with a rare solid gold flydressers pin. From there he appeared on Canadian T.V. to promote these prestegious World Championships.
Closer to home he was also the overall winner of the UK flytying league which was run by FlyFishing & FlyTying magazine.

In 1999 he organised and directed the "Irish Open Flytying Championship", which grew to be a successful annual event attracting some of the top competitive fly dressers from all over the globe including USA, Europe, Japan and Argentina.

His flies have appeared in many books and magazines worldwide and lately he has demonstrated flytying in Canada, UK, and Europe. Other flydressers whose work Peter admires greatly include, Mr. Marvin Nolte, USA and Mr. Paul Little, Cumbria (both salmon fly geniuses) and Mr. Peter Kealey, and Robert Gillespie, N. Ireland (exquisite shrimp patterns).

When not actually tying flies Peter can be found on the banks of his favourite river, the Erkina in Durrow, Co. Laois.
