It is always a magic moment when meeting a new face and you suddenly figure out that fly fishing is a uniting interest.

During these hectic days at the British Fly Fair International you meet new faces every where and everyone is there just because of the same interest as yours, fly fishing and fly tying.

That’s the reason why this weekend is so fantastic. It is here we have the chance to see and learn how other fly fishers from every corner of the world make different flies with different materials and different techniques.

My own passion for fly fishing has always been strong. In the area of Sweden where I live we have good rivers and lakes with both rainbows and browns. Even if the stocked waters normally hold large fish, the natural waters are my favourites. That’s why I am also interested in and spend time looking after the water and fish care. This is very important in Sweden if we are to have any wild fish left.

Soft hackle flies have always been of great interest to me. Just as much as English spiders which are excellent fish catchers in Scandinavian rivers. Flymphs are a less well-known type of fly that belongs among the soft hackles. A properly tied flymph can be fished both as a dry fly or as a sinking wet fly, depending on how it is fished. That’s the reason why so many fly fishers in my area, after more than 40 years of fly fishing, still fish with a flymph most of the time.

Let’s meet at the BFFI.
