British Fly Fair International

Frederico Renzi

I was born in Italy 42 years ago and I started fishing when I was three years old, I fish only with the fly from more than 20 years and I tie my flies from about the same time.
I work as wine maker for many companies in Tuscany, where I live. I’m married with Morena and I’ve two children: Irene and Francesco.
My philosophy in fly fishing and fly tying is matching the hatch and imitate every stage of insects metamorphosys. I prefer to fish with dry flies, when I can’t see my fly  and follow all the action I loose the biggest part of fun.
I think that fly fishing is something more that simply “catching fishes”, but it’s a state of mind. A fly fisher never stops to be a fisherman even at home or while he’s working, when you see a man looking at a bug with a dreaming face you can be sure that or he is fool or he’s a fly fisher.
I also tie realistic patterns, I started some years ago just to see if I was able to do, and I  developed many patterns and many different solutions that I use also for some fishing flies, I love to spend 3 or 4 hours at my vice for tying a single fly.
Sharing my tying trips and my patterns is a big honour for me and I love to go to other countries for tying, this year I was in Somerset USA In January, in Paris in February, and in two or three fair in Italy.
I usually write for an Italian magazine of fly fishing and I was part of the jury of WTO (World  Tuscany Open) in 2005.
